Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 16.3 Scotch Whisky 700ML

The Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 16.3 is a super-heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky that showcases the distillery's commitment to innovation and quality. Crafted from 100% Scottish Concerto barley grown on Octomore Farm's Church Field in Islay, this expression is malted to an impressive 189.5 parts per million (PPM) of phenols, resulting in an intensely smoky profile. Distilled in 2019 and aged for five years in a combination of bourbon, Sauternes, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, it boasts a robust 61.6% ABV, delivering a powerful yet refined drinking experience.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: The aroma opens with the freshness of blooming heather, barley sugar, and warm bread, brightened by subtle lemon zest and green apple peel. A foundation of honeyed malt and toasted grain builds on the palate, enriched by orchard fruits, citrus, and gentle vanilla, with coastal nuances weaving through.

  • Palate: A symphony of honeyed malt, toasted grain, and a distinctive earthiness greet the palate. Orchard fruits, citrus, and a touch of vanilla sweetness follow, whilst delicate threads of smoke and salinity weave through the malt, providing a gentle counterpoint to heather and coconutty gorse.

  • Finish: The finish is warm and smoky, with lingering sweetness and gentle bitterness, showcasing the complexity imparted by the diverse cask maturation.
